We dined here Sunday and had the chef’s choice lazy lunch with the wine accompaniment. Wow absolutely amazing experience, from the staff through to the final course this restaurant deserves the 5 Star rating and more. Great value for money will definitely be dining here again.

Booked a table online which was effortless with plenty of options for dining times. However arrived only to sent back to the bar because our table wasn’t ready. Waited for 15 minutes trying to not drink my glass of wine to fast (allocated driver). Strangely when shown into the restaurant, we were given a choice of four tables which made me think that perhaps they were a little short staffed for a Saturday night not being able to reset tables fast enough.Anyway, got settled, drinks ordered, food ordered efficiently enough. Decided that I wanted to have a dessert, so just ordered a main of beef cheek. My husband chose the oysters half natural half battered, he thoroughly enjoyed them. My beef cheek was nice, perhaps a little rich for my taste. The waitress said the meals were very hearty which put me off ordering a side. In hindsight I should have ordered some vegetables to balance out the richness of the dish. My husband had the beef steak for 1, he said it was nice but not fantastic. We decided to not have dessert in the end.I guess I had my hopes up about this restaurant, there have been some great reviews, sadly mine is not one of them.

I had read reviews about this place and it landed as one of the handful of places to dine in Christchurch. I as actually looking forward to it after having read what was on the menu online. Unfortunately when we arrived, and looking at the menu that they had provided us, it was slightly different. The dish that I had wanted was not available so I had to make do.I would more or less say this is a fancy looking ‘pub’ where on a nice sunny day you can dine alfresco if you wanted. Please check out my website for an indepth review. misopeckish.com

Cosy and warm. Very welcoming and inviting with friendly staff. Dinner was tasteful and beautifully presented. At no time did we feel rushed, which was a nice change from some of the busier restaurants.

I’ve gone past this place many many times for years but finally decided to visit a few weeks ago. Interior decoration is very posh, as expected. The service was nice and made us feel very comfortable. I had the oysters for entree, which came with a side of Chardonnay sauce, cannot go wrong. Had the fish for main which was absolutely divine! All the components go well together, I wish it came in a bigger portion though, just a little bit more. For dessert I had the creme brûlée, unfortunately the hard caramel was quite burnt, so was my friend’s. But overall not a bad place to treat yourself sometimes.

Booked here for a family occasion as I had heard from friends that it was excellent and a place to visit.Upon arrival the restaurant is a well polished building, the insides were very warm and homely. The lighting was just right and flow of the building is well thought out. Clean toilets which is always good! The staff were good very prompt at seating and ensuring we were comfortable! Provided good knowledge of menu and what goes well with each main. Mains:I ordered the cheviot steak which was medium rare was very good just slightly under done, but did not detract from the taste and quality. Two other family members had steak also and were very impressed with theirs. My partner had the 1/2 chicken which was a little bit bland, but well portioned. Hogget was great, slightly small piece of meat but very tasty dish! Snapper was excellent light and well balanced. Desserts:Chocolate tart was amazing smooth and complimented extremely well with an absolute winner raspberry sorbet! Best sorbet I have experienced! Left you wanting more. Brulee was smooth and creamy, but not my cup of tea. (others enjoyed thoroughly)Overall great restaurant, great food, great service and setting! Definitely recommend to friends and family a must go in Christchurch! Will be back

Had an early dinner on a Tuesday night with a friend. Just had the aged beef as a main and some salad as side. The beef is really impressive. I asked for medium-rare, and yes, that’s what I got. Covered only by onion rings, dressed with red wine mushroom jus, the beef looks so simple. Pointing the knife into the meat, I felt the softness. When I had my first bite, I was overwhelmed by this amazing piece. It was a bit crispy outside, well seasoned, with the flavor of butter, tender and juicy inside, like melting in my mouth. I could not even talk to my friend since this beef brought me too much joy. And I could not believe I finished the whole thing. The onion rings were different when sucking enough jus. It felt as if a neighborhood girl suddenly became a superstar. I don’t know how to describe that taste you have to try that yourself. Forget about the salad or the beautiful entrées, I just want to be a meat lover tonight.
