On first impression it smelt slightly funky but the restaurant was pretty full, so that’s got to be a good sign. Our food came out quickly and the waitress very lovely and helpful. We had chicken massaman & Penang. Both bloody beautiful! The massaman was kind of fruity and the Penang has crushed up peanuts in the sauce which makes it super tasty. I mark them down for the lack of vegetables, in the Penang especially as the massaman had the traditional onions and potatoes. The waitress was quick to inform us that we can have more rice if we wish, which we did. Meals a decent large size so we’ll have to get the rest to take home which they’re more than happy to do. Overall 100% we’ll be back, we live locally so I’ve grabbed the take out menu!!
My regular Thai restaurant. The food is tasty and very generous portions. The waitress is always super friendly. Try it out on a Wednesday they have an awesome $20 deal for soup, entree and main.
We have been eating at the Phuket Thai since 2007. I agree with Andrew and rate the curries; the best in the city I would say which is why we cross town to eat there.
We have been regulars at this delicious Thai restaurant for the past 4 years. Nothing but praise for the hard-working team at Phuket. Don’t know how the previous diner found their Pad-Thai tasteless. It’s one of my faves, and find it extremely flavoursome. Packed with fresh vegies and delicious prawns.Recommend to all Thai food lovers, give it a go!!
I enjoy this friendly, casual Thai eatery. I have eaten here several times and have only had pleasant experiences. Alas and more critically, this is a restaurant of two halves (and I am not referring to the separate takeaway entrance immediately adjacent, either – which is a good thing). Fact is their well weighted curries are uniformly full of refined flavour and worthy of 4 stars, whilst the stir fries uniformly underwhelm, lack distinctiveness and fail to clearly distinguish themselves from each other. Shame. This restaurant could be so much better for a little more care and attention to detail in their stir fries and by using more fresh and distinctively Thai ingredients, as well as by ensuring each menu item deserves its place by distinctiveness in taste and not just differentiation in name. Nonetheless, this critic duly notes that Phuket Thai is far from alone in this predicament, and one could do a whole lot worse than visiting this pleasing establishment.
My wife and I have had lunch here twice and then I took my daughters there for dinner Friday night. My eldest daughter considers Pad Thai Gai her absolute favourite Thai dish and declared this to be absolutely brilliant.I was recommended the Massaman beef curry and loved it. To top it all off the service was excellent
Was a very dissapointing experience there last night. After ordering a pad Thai gai I end up with something that looked like it came from a Chinese takeaway. Also when asking for hot you don’t expect then to forget the chilli!!!!Authentic Thai? I think not.
