I was actually pleasantly surprised by this fish & chip shop. I didn’t have high expectations as years ago when I’d been here it was very average, but tonight our fish had a great batter, the spring roll was crisp and flavoursome and the chips weren’t greasy. Will definitely be back.Edit: have been back twice since my visit above – last time we went we got two battered blue cods, and the were ok size and good tasting, tonight, the rest of the options were as expected but the blue cod is tiny!! It is 30gms less than the standard $2.50 fish which is not big itself. You pay $7.50 for the blue cod. If this is what you are after, go to merivale seafoods – you will get double the size for the most delicious fish for only $1 more. Very disappointed tonight.

Bulk amount of fish and chips, hotdogs and hamburgers ordered by phone Friday evening. All the fish both the battered and the crumbed tarakihi were off! Really tasted awful. We ended up throwing all the fish out. So disappointing. Hamburgers were average. Hotdogs were the best out of all the order, but still not great. We were worried about food poisoning as the fish smelt and tasted so old and really off!. Not one of the 6 guests were willing to eat it after one taste of their choice of fish. I have brought fish and chips from here for a long time and have never had this problem before – has it changed hands? Will not be going back. Was a waste of money and ruined our night . Ended up making toasted sandwiches.
