Really surprised that I could find a good Chinese style breakfast place like this in Christchurch. The Chinese pancake with egg and fried bread stick is my favorite. Not only breakfast, but also the charcoal BBQ menu for dinner and supper are nice as well. Good to treat Chinese people who have homesick. 😛

I love seeing Scott and his staff here, so friendly and welcoming and always helping me try new things! My favourite place for afforable eating in Riccartion I suggest the chicken gristle and celery and pork dumplings! I do not understand the review below as I am a 26 yr old kiwi girl and love the lay out of the place with the wooden benches great for seating many friends. This place offers something unique and fun for a great price. I will always return

My initial feeling was of confusion due to the secluded and obscure location, tucked away near Velvet Burger. The restaurant is barely large enough to be called a restaurant, but is very clean and has a good view of Riccarton Road. The seats are terrible; large wooden benches far too big for the limited space. This makes it a pain to sit down at a table and especially to get up.The menu is split between breakfast/lunch and dinner, laminated on the tables, which was helpful. There are extremely limited options however and as is typical of such locations the translations from Chinese to English were largely gibberish. My friend and I ordered a bowl of soy bean milk each, which arrived barely lukewarm but was otherwise fine. Our table had only three chopsticks between the two of us and we had to find one from another table with no help from the staff.Due to limited options on the menu on the day, I ordered a wrap which had egg and youtiao inside, slathered with soy sauce and another strange paste. The taste was acceptable but it was difficult to eat with just chopsticks– at least in my experience this kind of street food is usually eaten inside a paper bag so the diner can hold on to it.Overall a disappointing experience, would not recommend to anyone despite the extremely low prices. You certainly get what you pay for.
