My girlfriend and I went here for breakfast. We tried to use the grabone deal but it required calling ahead to use. We called three times and couldn’t get through over the course of the morning. We eventually showed up at about 11:15 and were told they were very busy and booked out so we couldn’t use the grabone deal. Since there were only four tables being used, and more then ten not being used, this struck me as highly dubious from the off, but we decided to eat there anyway.I ordered a scrambled eggs on toast with sides of bacon and hashbrown, my girlfriend ordered a toastie with a side of hashbrown. We then waited an hour for our food as one of only five tables being used. When it did arrive, my girlfriend’s toastie had been made using the crusty end-piece of the loaf of bread and her two hashbrowns were claggy and unpleasant (also served with a cake fork which is a bit odd). A couple of minutes later my scambled eggs arrived, looking decidedly poached as the waitress (who was quite nice but very new) hadn’t gotten my order right. My side of hashbrown was only one as opposed to my girlfriend’s two, not sure why, but it was also claggy and unpleasant. They did offer to change my poached eggs for scrambled, but by that point we had very little time and I wasn’t enthused about the prospect of waiting another hour for some eggs.Moral of the story is don’t go to Ed Hopper.
This cafe is an underrated hidden gem! Cute refreshing atmosphere inside. Good interesting dessert and great coffee. Belgium hot chocolate could be a little bit more chocolatey though!
