Surprisingly good food from a modest Looking takeaway. Decent options for gluten free food TASTE – everything we had was good, vegetables were fresh, food was hot and tasty (despite getting sidetracked on our way back to our motel). I can’t say if its the best Chinese takeaways I’ve had but its definitely goodVALUE – seems like really good value but we are on holiday from Australia so don’t really know. The meal trays are 1 litre I think, the seem almost double the size of takeaway meals in Australia.ALLERGIES/COELIAC – friendly staff who understood gluten free (hard to find in Chinese takeaways/restaurants*). We were surprised with how many GF options we had – they adjusted the meals slightly to make them gluten free (removed the soy sauce I think) WOULD I GO BACK? – yes, we have a few more days in Christchurch and I can pretty much guarantee we will go back at least once more on this trip

Alas, the chicken fried rice was very greasy and tasteless. They had Sole Fillets on special for $4. A good price for a reasonably sized fillet. Slightly heavy on the batter but it tasted fresh. So, a Chinese take away that does a better fish and chip than they do their Chinese fare? Makes even less sense when there are three other fish and chip shops in 100 meters of here.
