Terrible food. Noodles weren’t even closed to being cooked and was told that’s how they’re supposed to be served. It felt like chewing on jungle vines.I tried to go outside for a smoke and they straight up grabbed me because they thought I wasn’t paying?
The food was very average and overpriced. My impression of this restaurant was not lifted by the names of the dishes. This is one occasion where I would not even bother comment on the quality of the food. Let’s say the food is not worth what you pay and I could see no reason to return based on this alone.
While the food was great, the racist menu listings were horrendous. It was embarrassing for us an our visitor to the city. Would recommend that this type of humour probably belongs nowhere in this day and age. Pity really as it ruined the evening.
Don’t be fooled by the low ratings. This place is welcoming and the staff are wonderful. A special mention to the young lady originally from Wisconsin who was very attentive and just lovely.The wine list was good however as they were in the middle of changing it so not all wines were available in saying that, the wines we had were great and matched with excellent glass wear. The food was great, a different take on Asian hence the restaurant’s name. The only thing I didn’t really like was the crab cakes, too much red onion for me. Overall a lovely dinner to end our time on the South Island.Would recommend to give this restaurant a well deserved go.P.S. the menu and dishes named was not offensive at all!!!!!!!!!
WOW Amazing food. Came in with a group of girls on Friday night. Great Service and GREAT good. Would highly recommend!!This is not my first time here and defiantly won’t be the last. Shocked with the poor star rating but I think this must be from bad press NOT to do with food.
A lovely local recommended we come here for dinner. We popped in for a quick meal on a Sunday night. The menu gave us a good giggle. The Beijing Maggie’s dish was beautiful. So tender & full of flavour without being overpowering. Would love to come back here with a group & share lots of dishes.
Overall a good experience and good food but definitely on the pricier side. Great atmosphere and open kitchen but portion size isn’t huge. They offered sparkling water like it was free without mentioning it was $11.50! I’ve been to restaurants where sparkling and non sparkling water is both free so I felt a bit cheated by this. My favourite would be the yum yum kip salad and that blue cod which has no name! Coconut chocolate dessert was average but lemon tart was great and refreshing. Sushi was fresh but hard to bite into as the meat was hard to tear (not that tender). Probably wouldn’t order sushi again as you can get better for cheaper
