Been a few times. Good coffee but that’s about it. They are stuck in a time warp by providing a computer for Internet access and having to pay for wifi service. Got two fluffies for my kids and to charge $2 for some leftover foam (that is usually dumped) and some marshmallows is ridiculous especially when some cafes are now doing them for free. Not a very pleasant atmosphere at the owner often appears to be in a mood and gives off the most awful vibes. Not good enough when the level of competition is high in Christchurch.

Could have devoured all the cakes but had a chicken salad instead, really lovely, my husband had the thai beef salad which he loved and my daughter had a toasted sandwich which went down a treat. Been before many times and will be back.
Had lunch here today. Maybe our expectations were too high after reading the other reviews. Nice place, pleasant people. I had Thai beef, very salty and I found a short black hair in it, unfortunately not till I was almost finished. My husband had bangers and mash – 2 small sausages on some mashed potatoes with a small amount of onion – fine to eat, but just what you’d have at home, nothing to lift it. We probably wouldn’t go back. In summary, just average.
We have been enjoying food and coffee from dot.com Cafe in Sumner since returning from Singapore 5 years ago. we live in Sumner and we love this cafe. They have the best food in town and their gluten free food is amazing!. The chef just keeps changing the delicious food and I don’t think we have had the same thing twice. It’s just delicious and beautifully presented every time. The coffee is also great and the staff are very nice and efficient. It’s Sumner’s best cafe and I think the best cafe in Christchurch. This cafe has remained open all through the most difficult of times with the earthquakes, it has been a Godsend to this community. Thank- you Dot Com Cafe !. Keep up the good work.
I am amazed I am the first reviewer of this great café. I guess the regulars like me don’t want it to get over crowded!! I visit Sumner regularly to walk on the great beach and love the friendly atmosphere of this place. The coffee is great and the food is always interesting and served beautifully. Tried other places when Dot Com was full and they don’t match up.
