This place is quietly tucked away in Sumner, it has quite the character from within. The lovely waitresses were super polite and we chatted away with them throughout our meal. The food here is ok, I’ve tried various Mexican food from different traditional restaurants so I think this one is ok and pretty average. As Christchurch doesn’t have many Mexican food joints this is quite nice for those who are craving spicy Mexican flavours.
Pretty hard to find if you aren’t a local. Used Zomato to find somewhere nice to eat while visiting Christchurch. Called ahead to make a booking which probably wasn’t needed. Service was great. Shown to our table and didn’t need to wait long for our drink orders. Great selection of a mixture of Mexican and south American . Opted for the tasting platter which was amazing. Four meals to chose from. Flavors were amazing. I will return if I’m ever in Christchurch again..

We really enjoyed our night out at the Headless Mexican last night. We were greated on arrival and shown to our table and given the menu to peruse. After just the right amount of time we were asked if we would like to order drinks and these arrived soon after. We ordered the cheese dip to share this was very tasty and we had no trouble finishing it. I liked how I could order a soft taco as I am not a big eater and it was just the right amount for me with lovely flavours. The main meal my husband ordered was certainly a decent size and tasted great with the spices. The shaken margarita was a highlight for me, I could have settled in to have a few more and I thought a good price at $12.00. Service was very good, the atmosphere was great, the restaurant was warm on a chilly evening and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.
I have eaten here twice and the food was delicious both times. The atmosphere of the place is really nice, too. It has a lot of character! The location is splendid, too as you can go for a walk on the beach after dinner.
We really love the Headless Mexican, especially the delicious South American dishes and the margaritas. This is our favourite restaurant in Sumner based on the combination of service, atmosphere and tasty food. Very family friendly too which is a bonus. Now we live in Auckland it is on our must visit list every time we return to Chch.
