Never even got a chance to try the food due to POOR service. Waiting in line to order, and the girl behind the counter blatantly asked the guy after me what he would like to order after he had already tried to cut in front of me in line. If you are going to serve someone who came after me and I had been waiting longer then I will go and order else where. That was simply put, rude service and came across sexist as she was favoring men ordering over women. In NZ we treat all genders equally. I was ready to order a combo meal but after being disrespected I took my money some where else.
I ordered the chicken Tikka Masala curry combo. I like the heat and the flavour but it does seem to have a bit of sweet. The garlic Naan was good – no scrimping on the garlic.
I was nursing the kind of hangover that would floor a rhino. Curry was an essential part of the recovery plan. So I struck out for the nearest and found myself at the local food court, and the Aashiana. Evidently the name means ‘birds nest’, the significance of this is lost on me. It sounds like a mucus-y sneeze. This is a far more relevant reference point. The chicken saagawala certainly had that appearance. The chook was in stringy strands, akin to the egg of a Chinese chicken and corn soup. The sauce was blended into a green gooeyness. I considered asking for a straw as the best means to imbibe this goop. It was served with luke warm rice and a soggy naan bread. After a couple of mouthfuls, I sat sadly; slowly manoeuvring the mess around my plate, as a toddler does when confronting broccoli. I conceded defeat, this cure being so much worse than my malady.
I had a vege korma and my friend had chicken korma, mine was terrible and was super sweet and didn’t taste like authentic curry it tasted like cream and sugar. My friends chicken dish was also flavorless and terrible, it was also expensive and I wont be going back.
