A 40min wait, prices for the meals we ordered 4 mains, 1 starter and 1 side. were very high, in comparison to the size of the meal portions. One of the dishes -clams! If serving shellfish make sure they’re all open, before sending out. When I told the waiter he told us to pry them open! The 14hr wakanui beef brisket, was tasteless, over cooked, had no fat! The gumbo had too much chilli, and unable to be eaten by itself. On a positive – Buttermilk fried chicken was good, Tator tots were amazing! Would come back but wouldn’t order any form of brisket, or the gumbo! Would order clams again but would insist they’re all opened!

Came here the other night and ordered the $22 ribs. I would have liked to have the ribs come with a side of either fries or a salad but they didn’t – you had to buy these separately. We were told that the ribs would not ‘fall off the bone’ but I still expected there to be more meat actually on them. Aside from this, the service was great and the buffalo chicken wings were yum!

Went there with friends when we are craving for good ribs. Ordered the $80 bbq platter that came with dry rubbed ribs (more like CARDBOARD RIBS), wakanui beef, chicken nibbles, pulled pork, sausage, asparagus, tater tots and 4 tiny bread rolls. Quality was subpar, ribs were too dehydrated to the point it was inedible! When informed, the waitress just shruged it off by explaining the ribs were dry rubbed and smoked. Totally unacceptable! Generral meaning of dry rubbed means rubbed with dry herbs and spices, not to be cooked to dry, cardboard textured meat! I believe staff were untrained to deal with complaints. Other than the meats being too dry, the rest such as drinks and ambience were good.

I’d heard mixed reviews on Bootleg BBQ – one friend saying it’s amazing and another saying it’s not. Off we went for a work function anyway. Service was probably the best thing about this place. The meat is fair under seasoned and over cooked (dry) the jalapeño sausage could definitely use more spice and the wings weren’t sticky or marinated all that well. We also had the steak fingers, wakanui brisket and candied bacon. The bacon was good! The sides are quite plain, the broccoli salad needed more dressing. It did take quite awhile for the food to come out so I do expect a lot when I have to wait awhile. They do however make a pretty great cocktail! Cannot deny them that at all. I think I will visit again as I want to believe that it was just a one off bad experience

Good portion. Nice BBQ food. Spicy shared platter is yummy. Good atmosphere. Mock tails are nice. Good place for a night out with group of friends or date night.

The food and drinks were good and the staff amazing. They did an awesome job of helping surprise my partner with a Birthday cake, it was so fun. Great time had by all. Will return.

have visited thrice now – first stop a friday lunchtime – no ribs today ! – not a great start – 2nd occasion a xmas lunch group – the ribs were best I’ve had & loved the accompanying sauces – 3rd visit – tried the jalapeno sausage – just superb – thought i might need a bit of balance so also ordered the slaw and crumbed potato ball sides – both excellent but with a tomato juice on top this came to $45 – that’s pricey for a single course friday lunch but i must say the nosh was top class – service pleasant & efficient – yes, i’ll be back occasionally but too steep to be a regular venue
