If you want cheap eats at a good price, this is the place to go. Don’t expect 5 star service or premium quality food. This is definitely a budget eat cafe but for what you get, it is delicious! Sometimes the wait time is a bit long so I would suggest calling ahead of time and placing your order. You can’t go wrong with the 6.50 bbq noodle special or the sweet and sour pork.
Of all the Chinese food outlets I’ve been to in my time this one didn’t manage to make itself stand out at all from the rest. Sure the food was ok but nothing to make you wait longingly for your next visit. Also the name is confusing.
I was on my lunch break when visiting City Cafe on Madras Street I thought I knew what I was expecting, some fast filling Asian cuisine.Unfortunately after ordering I sat in the dimly lit cafe for just over 40 minutes waiting for my one $6 dish while a whole wave of customers left and a new wave came and got given their food before me. The food was good but not at all worth the long wait. I respect that it is a small business but there really should be more than one cook during the lunch hour.I won’t be returning unless I have some time to spare.
