Everything is over priced here, from the food to the drinks. Town is a total ripoff these days, we end up paying for the high rents these places have to pay and/or the new building the owner has built. I think why bother with such places, may as well stay in the suburbs and areas like Riccarton.
As a first timer to Christchurch and New Zealand I was really excited to meet up with friends to celebrate live music together at the place they had branded as one of the best places to see Jazz. We had entered as 3 people and were waiting for our 4th friend, who was the designated driver. We were bewildered to find out she had been rejected by the bouncer due to appearing intoxicated. When we stepped outside to find out what was holding her up at the line we were shocked to see other people being let in who clearly appeared intoxicated. This experience has tainted my experience of Christchurch and my 3 local friends who are all live gig fans will no longer be frequenting the once amazing venue for locals to enjoy due to their poor ability to screen and welcome patrons who are only out to enjoy some tunes and good conversation. It was my final opportunity to spend some quality time with friends enjoying music and it got shut down due to an incompetent bouncer who has allowed power and control take over instead of performing his responsibilities of managing crowds in respectful and safe ways. My local friends will not be going here again and I’ll be making sure I do not recommend this place to my Melbourne friends.
