It’s a hotdog place, so wasn’t really expecting much other than a nice sausage. $7-9 it’s kinda pricey but its worth. Nice variety of flavours and is always a nice stop at a market or something alike. Would be nice if they offered a classic white soft American bun.
ReStart Mall has become a loved icon of Christchurch’s CBD remake after the 2011 earthquake. Touristing in December 2016 and needed lunch, so Fritz’s Weiner was to sample. Pretty reasonable value at $7.50 and pretty reasonabel time to serve the food. Crusty roll, tasty weiner and nice amount of mustard made for a tasty and filling meal. Long way from Adelaide for a visit but I’d eat there again!
Had it first time from CHCH central, nothing more than sausage and bread. Only Fancy. Bun was hard and cold. Sausage was just another sausage nothing special. First and last time.
Sadly Christchurch never recovered from the earthquakes of 2010/11, and to date the city still resembles a construction zone awaiting a much needed overhaul. With that said, the concept of the re:START malls are a step forward in the right direction. Converted container stalls have brought a new life to an almost barren CBD. One of those stores is Fritz’s Wieners, serving German frankfurts and bratwursts. The Frankfurt was flavoursome, but miniature in comparison to the burly bratwurst, which was nice but sadly only that. Similarly, the buns were soft and substantial yet unmemorable. Condiments are self serve with a variety of mustards. Although these were decent dogs, the prices left me craving more.
