Asiatique is a new lovely addition to Christchurch’s fusion restaurant list. I had seen the photos on facebook and decided to pay this place a visit for lunch. The decoration was somewhat interesting, kind of has an Asian streetfood feel to it. It wasn’t the busiest afternoon so the owner was in the kitchen doing the cooking with the chefs, now that to me means the food will be very carefully prepared and presented. And it was. I ordered a fried tofu (served with sweet and sour chilli sauce and garnished with crushed peanuts) for starter and for the main I got chef’s special fried chicken with mango salad served with sticky rice. Everything was absolutely outstanding! I can have that mango salad everyday and it goes surprisingly well with the fried chicken. My friend got the Laksa and we were impressed with how authentic it as, served with both egg noodles and vermicelli, just like how it’s done in Malaysia. Very good and highly recommended.
