Went here last week and wasn’t a big fan. Nandos has been hyped up for ages so though I’d finally give it a try – the peri peri sauce (even the mild) is very spicy but doesn’t have a nice taste to combat the spice – it tastes terrible. The burger was bland and the only flavour I really got from it was from the pineapple I paid extra to add!! I also added caramelised onions which were cold and slimy. The chips were okay though. For the price you pay, I wouldn’t recommend coming here!
Located into the very recently opened Hoyts Entx on Colombo Street. This Nandos outlet is smaller than others. It has an unique, interesting and modern design. And, at least, one pleasant, courteous and very helpful employee that goes by the name of Easter. However, I was not served by Easter, but by a younger staff who did not know how to operate the till. Indeed, my order took a relatively long time to be processed since the inexperienced employee did not load the second till, which is uniquely used for cash transactions- I guess she assumed that I was going to pay via Eftpos or even credit- A wrong assumption to have, since there were two customers at the counter, my friend Jacob and yours truly- And we both paid cash! Anyway, the ordering process was quite laborious since she even forgot to substitute the coleslaw for the iceberg salad in my BBQ and coleslaw burger, as per requested- I had to ask the more experienced and considerate Easter to rectify the ommission. Now, let’s talk about the food. My burger was not bad, the chicken was nicely cooked, the caramelised onions were lacking in thickness and taste but they were still eatable. The buns, however, seemed to have been reheated or left under the warmer a bit too long since they were hard and a tad dry. Not the worst Nandos outlet in Christchurch, nor the best either. To be fair to this outlet though, they only have been opened for less than three months. Hence, some tweaking is to be expected. Let’s see what the soon to be opened outlet in Northland has to offer!
