  Went out on a Friday night with a group of 8 and on first arrival we were very surprised to find the restaurant completely empty and it remained that way for the whole duration of our stay (approx. 2 hours) which we found odd at first, but now it makes perfect sense. We ordered our food which took 45 minutes to come out, my steak was very fatty around the edges and I asked for it medium rare; it came out well done, on top of that, my food was only just warm enough to eat, steak is best served hot off the press but mine probably sat there for a good 20 minutes or so before it got to me. A side salad with little to no seasoning that took up 3/4 of the plate as well. Everyone else was very underwhelmed with their food and experience too. The decor makes no sense either and there was no real atmosphere considering there were no other people or staff anywhere to be seen. Awful experience and I will never come back or recommend to anyone.

  Great location, good place to sit on a sunny afternoon to enjoy a beer. We had the Devonshire tea with what was honestly the best scones I have ever had. Ever. Can’t wait to go back and try more of their food options, and the young lady serving us was just lovely too.

  Would not recommend the steak and will not be returning.Ordered aged ribeye with potato and kumara gallette, pumpkin puree, shallots and wilted greens,at $36.The meal looked nothing like the photo on the web site at all. The gallette had slid all side ways,only one shallot and that was still in its skin and the steak was truly awful! It had a huge piece of hard fat in the center,that was about a 1/5 of the steak and it was very tough and sinewy,it was cooked to medium rare as asked for. The place was near empty.I complained about the steak,but got no response at all,other than a nervous smile from the young woman that served me. I really don’t like handing over good money for such a bad return,its like food fraud.

  Top little bar and restaurant. Well, not so little. Nice building, lovely grounds, good décor, right by the river. Would be lovely on a summer’s day. Service was quiet but good. The fish and chips was excellent, and they have a good selection of beers and wines. Had a very pleasant lunchtime.

  We came here for our Grabone deal for 3 course meal for $60. At first we were wondering what on earth would we get for that.. But when we turned up we were politely greeted to a lovely romantic ambience and seated at our tables. Firstly, The touch to write my name on a card and attach it was absolutely sweet! It was such a nice thought to do. For starters I had the Calamari and my partner had the popcorn chicken, both huge entrée portions ( I mean huge! ) and the salad was fresh and had a nice tingy Asian dressing to it. The Main came and it must of at least been a 350g Sirloin or more! It was bigger than my face, packed with goods underneath and beside it. The only thing I didn’t like were the sides were a little urgh. I would have been happy with Mash and mushrooms instead of a mushroom covered in overly sweet caramelized onions! However, we barely got into it since the entrée was so big! – The waitress ended up thinking we didn’t enjoy the meal as we left so much. Last but not least the white chocolate and mixed berry cheesecake was divine, nice flavours that compliment each other with a scoop of nice vanilla icecream.I would definitely visit again on another deal! Or without!Thanks for the great hospitality!

  Good menu though not extensive. I had a fantastic steak dinner. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and while not outstanding, the service was good with warm and friendly staff.
