A relatively busy place on Central Christchurch. We came here twice for the Salmon Sushi & Sashimi. It was so fresh and buttery, melted in your mouth. The rice on my Chirashi Sushi was a bit hard however but not a big deal. The Grilled Unagi Don was also good, but I wish they would’ve given me more Unagi.
This is a great choice for Japanese food in Christchurch. The food is tapas-style with lots of small plates for sharing. All of our selections were delicious – agedashi tofu, salmon sashimi, chicken & avocado sushi, grilled fish and grilled eggplant. It was very reasonably priced and BYO is a bonus. The staff were very friendly and the food came out quickly. It’s a popular spot so if you do’t have a reservation, come early or you might not get a table.
Just the usual japanese food. Really small serving and I wasn’t pleased with the food at all. There were some things that they could have done better and the ambiance of the place could be fixed.
Average meal. Tuna sashimi beautiful but with great fresh produce hard to muck up.Grilled calamari was ok but no lemon on the plate which would have bought a much needed acidity to the dish. Tongue was so tough it was incredible but the flavour was great. When I mentioned they said it was supposed to be like that. Very close tables.
Great service – attentive and very accomodating even when we arrived without a reservation. Use of quality ingredients; flavour balance is spot on. The prawn wontons and tempanyaki Akaroa salmon are definite standout dishes.
Definitely one of the food highlights in our trip! The only reason I’m not rating it higher is only because the servings are small. Evident in the photo. The udon was so yum we’re still having cravings for it. The seared scallop was good too. The sweet red bean bun with matcha ice cream was delicious! Great way to end the meal. Wish the servings were bigger but we really enjoyed our dinner. Service was good as well.
We had a table outside and it was a lovely atmosphere with the trams passing through. Delicious fresh tasting food – however on the pricier side as the dishes are quite small and the price can add up. It was a bit disappointing they asked us to pay for extra mayo, but apart from that I would definitely return.
