Have been to Cornerhouse on multiple occasions. Although the price is pretty decent, food is not that great. Have noticed that they put a lot of MSG inside.

One of my favourite Chinese restaurants for some hearty, classic dim sum in the daytime (yumcha) and delicious A la carte dishes for dinner. For lunch, they serve a great selection of steamed, pan-fried and deep fried dim sum, as well as desserts and pastries. I like their steamed dumplings & buns, egg tarts and durian pastries. Would have been nice if they expand the vegetarian selection on the menu, it is currently still quite limited. For the night time dishes, in my most recent visit,we ordered the sizzling tofu, roast duck (whole), fish fillet in spicy oil, sizzling lamb, prawn paste with chicken skin and a variety of stir fried vegetables. Very satisfied with the meal; tasty and not overly-seasoned food. We also received complimentary mango puddings to end the meal with – a table full of happy campers ☺

Corner House is our go to Chinese restaurant now. Prices are good for what you get. Dim Sums have good flavor. This place is Cantonese style Chinese food which I prefer over Northern Chinese food. We really enjoy the Sizzling Egg Tofu dish.

Personally, for me the food wasn’t the best coz am not too in to Chinese. But this is possibly one of the few restaurants that are open late on a daily basis – up to 2 or 3am at night. The food is pretty decent, nice, clean and good ambience. Most of the restaurants close at 9.30ish, and for people who finish late from work, at least for me, this is my first choice.

My in-laws wanted to come here for yum char, especially for their steamed rice rolls. It was a good call. So yummy. The rolls were silky smooth. Not only did we pig out 8 dim sum, we also ordered Singapore noodles. Happy days.

Corner House is a staple Yum Cha spot in Christhcurch. Their Dim Sim is nicer than most places in this city. They have all the popular Yum Cha favourites and a special mention to their egg tarts which are always crispy and hot when I’ve ordered them. The interior and decor is relatively nice with similar style and ambience to the Red Bowl in Riccarton. Service is good, even during the later hours of service (12-2:30am). Yes the restaurant opens quite late on most days and is a better alternative for very late night Dim Sim (when compared to Dragon Garden down the road).I recommend giving this place a try for Yum Cha, which they serve during the usual lunch time and also late in the night, however, bear in mind there are less Dim Sim options around midnight onwards. Overall good food with very flexible hours, making Corner House a staple Yum Cha restaurant in Christchurch.
