The Kapitan is one of our favourite local restaurants. This restaurant is Malaysian with a mix of dishes from other Asian countries. The prices are surprisingly low, considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes. They are happy to cook thinks off the menu. They often made me an amazing chicken sweet-sour, instead of the sweet-sour pork that’s on the menu. They made a simple Asian veggie soup for my wife once or twice.Always worthwhile to look on the specials board, there are usually two or three interesting dishes that are not on the menu. The owner is extremely friendly and makes everybody welcome. In winter the restaurant is warm and cosy and the service is always friendly and quick. The restaurant is essential a “concrete box” and when it’s full it can be quite loud, but the food is always fantastic.
mmm mmm. I love Korean food and this has to be the best meal I’ve had of any Korean restaurant I’ve been to. There we’re plenty of Korean/Asian diners which I think shows that the food is genuine and genuinely good. And it certainly was. We had my all time favourite beef bulgogi, spicy pork, spicy rice cakes, fried dumplings and one that was new to me; sweet and spicy cold noodles. Plus all the appetizers that they bring at the start. Oh yum yum – every dish was perfect. The flavours were intense & delicious. They served heaps of fried dumplings for the four of us – more than I’ve ever received at any other Korean restaurant and I particularly liked the tang in the cold chewy noodles. Walked away with a huge smile on my face and bounce in my step (maybe due to all that good sweet sweet corn syrup in the food).
