Struggled to choose between a 3.5 and a 4. When they opened, the prices were about right, but the food needed fine-tuning. Now they’ve improved the food – some simple things like heating the burritos at the end, wrapping them in foil – but increased the prices. I also think the Ilam branch around the corner does it better.
As busy moteliers we decided to order a quick takeaway meal.We ordered tacos and the chicken bowl.The chicken bowl was just ok almost coldThe taco shell and small amount of beef had not been heated.I was not prepared to eat cold meat mixed with salad.I called Pepes to complain they were totally disinterested in what we wanted to say , so we took the meal back to show the lack of heat and meat content to be told that the meal had gone cold between the two minute drive to our motel. They were not interested in ant form of service or feedback to clients who refer guests to their business We would never recommend Pepes and would rate them 1 out of 10 for food and serviceHad to line up for Burger Fuel next door great service and food
Easily my favorite Mexican place I’ve tried in NZ and AUS. Value is much better, the Pico de Gallo tasted authentic and the Carnitas was bomb.com! After spending 6 years in California, I have missed real Chipotle, Freebirds and my other burrito stores. I didnt check but fingers crossed you do a breakfast burrito?You will be seeing me once a week!
Love Pepe’s Mexican Grill have been a couple of times huge portions, fresh and so yummy I have half for dinner and other half for lunch the staff and really friendly and helpful.The only downside is no setting. Cant wait till the one closer to me opens in Northwood.
Pepe’s is delicious! I have eaten here a bunch of times in the last month since I moved down from Wellington.The pork with pineapple salsa is a moist, tasty combination and the portions are a great size.A bowl is big enough to share between 2 people. Great value!Good service, fast and I’m constantly surprised by the ability of the folks here to roll all that food into a single burrito. Nice!
As an individual with Coeliac Disease, I would definitely recommend Pepe’s tacos! I am highly sensitive to gluten and so can guarantee that they are succeeding on the gluten free front. I love that everything on the menu is gf, apart from the burritos. Makes ordering so much easier, it is so hard to find quick and easy gluten free lunch options. Definitely delicious too, I have been multiple times already. Excellent service too, which can be hard to find these days.
Thought we would give this a go as we love Mexican food – not tex mex but more rustic authentic not covered in cheese variety!. After reading the average reviews, we still wanted to give it a shot. We were really impressed and thought it was fresh and flavoursome. The only thing they may need to address is wrapping in paper as the filling quickly turns cold so maybe wrapping in tinfoil as many other Mexican places do, would be advised. Will be going back despite the drive.
