We ordered fish & chips from Wassup in Christchurch 2 weeks ago & were pleasantly surprised: the best fish & chips I’ve eaten in NZ. And i come from the UK, where they know how to make F&C – so I don’t give a 5 star rating lightly. The chips had a beautiful crispy outside, the fish was excellent & onion rings were good too. Plus cooked in canola oil, so no foul tasting pig/cow/sheep fat to ruin the taste of the meal. Ordering again from there now – so if last time was a fluke I’ll’ll be back to downgrade this rating!
Absolutely appalling and discussing. Been ages ago and their fish and chips were horrible. Tonight we just wanted dessert and decided we felt like a jam wrap and pineapple ring. Who could stuff those things up? You guessed it, they did. The pineapple ring was oily soggy and salty, and the jam wrap was flattened, over cooked and tasted wrong, hard to explain. If you live in the Waltham area think twice about going to Wassup, go down the road to Roger St, further away but way worth the extra travel for awesome food. We will never return.
The food is never cooked properly, the staff pretend they can’t understand you, and they always leave food out of the order, we have been going for a long time but have had enough and won’t be back.
Totally annoyed. Ordered 2 hot dogs and a burger. Was given 2 fish and a burger with past it beet-root. Tried to explain he had got it wrong and I was dismissed by him. Got home and gave the fish to my 4 year old and it was full of bones. Have tried to ring but they didn’t care and I was ignored. They actually just put the phone on the counter and walked away from it. I will never go back to this shop. How dangerous is that she could have been seriously injured. I have also made a call to the council as I really think this fish shop needs to be checked out for safety of its customers.
First time user will be going again very soon. Very nicely cooked, And very delicious. Service was very good fast and friendly.
This place has given me one of the worst service experiences of my life, I never got to try the food as they didnt cook it for me. Then would not allow me to speak to the manger or owner. This is after I placed a phone order, told it would be 5 minutes, drove to get it, waited, then went and asked how long would it be, only then to be told that I could not have blue cod in my fish burger, but would only make it with the regular fish. Didn’t matter that I wanted to pay extra, or that it was after 7pm by then and the kids didn’t have any dinner coming. Really terrible mostly because they just didn’t care.
