Tried my first pearl milk tea here when I was down in Dunedin last year & since then I’ve been hooked on boba!! Haven’t tried chatime in Auckland as it isn’t as popular as Hulucat/ Gongcha but will try it out sometime soon ☺️

I never understood the obsession Asians had with bubble tea but now maybe I’m slowly beginning to become the true Asian I’ve been suppressing. This year has so far given me major tapioca pearl cravings. Thus I’ve caved to going to chatime the only official boba place down here. I got the Sakura sencha tea from their limited edition menu and it was pretty good, but bitter (as I didn’t add sugar) but the sweet boba managed to get me through. Your average tea and bubble drink really. 3/5I tried the taro bubble tea and YAS I enjoyed it. I like how there were bits of taro which added thickness and a dessert feel to the drink, and of course the boba were a lovely accompaniment. 4/5I also tried their popping pearls which are definitely something I recommend people to try for the experience but personally I love the chew of tapioca that the popping pearls just don’t have. An interesting development though!

Came by to pick up some bubble tea before heading back to the conference. They have a range of different flavours of milk tea and other drinks available, similar to the other branches. Like other places, they have a selection of different toppings. There was quite a few tables inside so you can sit and enjoy your drink there. The drink was alright and the pearls had good chewiness.
