Came here for brunch with my friends who brought there 11 month old son. The waitresses were accommodating brought out a highchair and oooed at the baby. I ordered the Graze special Chain which was delicious. All if us ordered the kumara waffles with southern fried chicken. I tell you what I’m glad we all ordered it so there was no food envy. It was delicious! Wow what great flavours and so beautifully cooked. Loved the cinnamon butter. The portion size was good too not too huge and over fulling. I would recommend this place for sure!
Beautiful space with big glass windows to admire the mountains while having a coffee. The coffee is delicious and it is made very well! Food wise, we ordered a matcha pancake which was huge but the toasted oats were very tough to chew on. Overall not bad though. The main down side was that there were a lot of flies around the cafe which was slightly annoying.
My friend and I were staying down the road during our trip and came here a couple times for a quick coffee. Pleasant service, and quick might I add. Our coffees were served with a tall glass of chilled water which is rare to see, but I think should be the standard, especially with long blacks. Most long blacks I drink are usually bitter and/or burnt in taste but these coffees are amazing.
While staying with friends who live nearby, they recommend I check out this place. Only a short walk from their house, I decided to go on a day when the weather wasn’t particularly grand.I was quite surprised by how busy it was at 2pm. Granted it was over the holiday period, yet it wasn’t too busy to walk inside and get a choice of tables to sit at.I had briefly looked over the menu but was shown the brunch and drinks menu as I sat down.I ordered a banana smoothie and the eggs shakshuka. The smoothie was not cold but more closely to room temperature. It wasn’t exactly a bad thing and it still tasted great but it did strike me as a little odd. I didn’t ask why or mention it as it didn’t seem to make a difference. The eggs shakshuka is a dish I am quite familiar and fond of. This can be a bad thing, as your expectations can be quite different to someone else making it, someone that you are not used to.However, this occasion it was not the case. The serving looked fairly small but I must say I certainly was not hungry afterwards. I did need some time to let it settle before venturing back to my friend’s house. The sourdough with it was very tasty too. It comes with a side of sausage or brown mushrooms. I chose the mushrooms by default as I don’t eat meat but I’m very fussy about mushrooms. These seemed fine and other customers next to me also had brown mushrooms and had no problems with them. It is just my preference that I left the mushrooms.Pretty good local joint but the price was maybe a little more than I expected but I don’t often venture to these types of cafe/eateries, so it may not have been out of the ordinary.Service was very good from the wait staff and what I guess was the manger or owner.I certainly recommend trying this place out, it seemed to have quite a selection of foods, as well as hot and cold drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic. I tried not to eye off any of the desserts/cakes/biscuits, as what I did see looked very enticing.
I had heard about this place from reviews and word of month and was keen to try the new venture in Lake Hayes Estate. We have a fantastic brunch with spectacular food and service, I wish this place was closer to my home in Auckland. I’d recommend this as a must visit to all my friends. Not to be missed.
