We visited this beautiful restaurant as guests of my son for lunch on 27 December 2017. Unfortunately the children’s food was totally forgotten by the kitchen. In the meantime our food and wine, which had been delivered, reached room temperature before we were able to eat together in a completely fractured fashion. Altogether an unfortunate and unforgivable experience for this restaurant which comes so highly recommended.
The vineyard is set against a magnificent mountain range backdrop. It also has a beautiful pond with lily pads. I’ve been to many vineyards in New Zealand and Australia but the view of this place just blows everything out of the water.The restaurant itself has a great ambience. Great for couples, small families or large groups. The food is also very good. A must see for anyone visiting Hawkes Bay.
Outstanding – honestly amazing. The revamp of this place has done it well. The interiors, the food, the service all impeccable. A nice restaurant where you spend good money for an unbeatable experience – very impressed. The potato bread with whipped Camembert butter that comes free before your meal is incredible the sweetness of the butter and the light fluffy bread with the crunchy outside leaves you wanting more and more. The entrees were all amazing, perfect serving sizes and the flavours are perfect. The stand out for me was the Ricotta Gnudi, the whipped pumpkin with the light ricotta dumplings was such a good mix. The fish was also ordered as a main and was commented as “the best fish I’ve ever eaten”. The service was impeccable, we’ve had this lady serve us before and her eye for detail with the menu and the wine menu is so helpful and makes the experience even better. If your wanting to celebrate or have a special lunch that will not disappoint Craggy is the place. Finish with a drink outside, and their salted caramel truffles, looking the beautiful setting to top the meal off.
Very nice setting . Service was good and the shared lamb dish was amazing.Loved the champagne sorbet dessert!The fish was cooked to perfection and deconstructed chocolate brownie was absolutely yum!
Exceptional food & wine. Could not rate the service & quality of good more highly. The potato bread with Camembert butter is out of this world. I had the duck entree & short rib for main – absolutely flawless & special mention of the grain side salad. If you have the chance to visit & eat here, take it!
Lovely setting. Great service. We opted for the lamb shoulder to share and the platter but were promptly denied the platter with no explanation? Instead were recommended the salmon, venison carpaccio and potatoes. Could have just stuck with the lamb and potatoes. Wine was lovely though
Delicious meals especially the shared 28 day cured steak with matching Sofia wine. Staff were fantastic and knew the menu inside and out. Setting is absolutely stunning
