Everything about Ake Ake deserves 5 stars. They have incredible food (I highly recommend the seafood chowder), amazing service, fantastic wines (can’t go past the Chambourcin) and its all on location at the beautiful vineyard.

Lovely family restaurant, run by a lovely family. The food and service was to a high standard and would recommend if you are in the area. The high level of customer service from such a talented young waitress was refreshing. We tried four of their wines (two reds and two whites), all of high quality with lovely flavours and aroma’s.

We have enjoyed many meals at Ake Ake Restaurant and earlier this year, I hosted my wife’s, (OMG, this might get me in trouble) 60th birthday. We had 15 of our dearest neighbours joining us that evening and every meal, the dessert, wines, and service were top shelf! John even offered us a wine tasting before the meal. Excellent restaurant to enjoy a romantic meal viewing a sunset over the vines. We will gladly drive from Opua to this very special venue. Enjoy.

A fantastic experience, started off with a few wines to taste in front of a roaring fire. Then onto the meal. Entrees of beautifully cooked mushrooms. Mains of melt in the mouth venison and pot roast chicken with Chambourcin wine. Topped off with great desserts and coffee

We had a brilliant meal at Ake Ake,It was beautifully presented and was really original. I have a catering background and I loved having really inspiring food and yet with decent portions sizes.Save room for desert! This little vineyard restaurant is really an absolute MUST if visiting Kerikeri.

Have eaten here several times being a local. I find the food is beautiful & a great selection of wine. I would say this is the best restaurant in Kerikeri. Thanks for a lovely evening. Menu is great.

This restaurant was recommended to us by some friends and we couldn’t have picked a nicer time of year during the Autumn to enjoy its ambient, restful charm – such a change from the hustle and bustle of Auckland – and a cosy fire added to the atmosphere. We can commend the chef (who we later found out has previously worked at some very exclusive lodges around the country, including Blanket Bay) particularly for preparation and presentation of his meatdishes – both the lamb and beef we found very good. There appears to be a very big selection of wines on offer, which is rare to find in Northland, as well as wine-maker/owner John’s own vintages. He has a large planting of Chambourcin grapes and we found the red wine he produces from this a good accompaniment to the meals we had. We also did a little wine-tasting (he does this for free on request) prior to the meal, and can also recomment his Chardonnay.Highly recommended.
