Good coffee but the staff clearly hate customers and it showed.
Went in for breakfast, and I was disappointed to see that the menu was limited to bacon/egg/big breakfast options, with no pancakes or similar. Myself and one other ended up having vogels toast with spreads, and while the toast was hot, the spreads had just been dumped into little dishes and there was little care taken with the presentation. The coffee was pretty average, and was more froth than anything else. The milkshake ordered was served in a takeaway container instead of a glass, which hid the fact that it was not even mixed properly and was lumpy – it was a milkshake not a smoothie I ordered! The shop looked like it could benefit from a good scrub, and while the food in the cabinet looked ok, I don’t know if I would return out of choice.
Watery Mouth is becoming one of our favourite places for brunch. So far have had the steak sandwich, BLAT & kumara stack. WMC were awesome enough to make me a delicious strawberry milkshake with soy milk today, and the food was again outstanding. One of the stand-out cafes in Blenheim.
came over to Blenheim to check out another cafe, but fortunately for us it was closed and we found you instead. My Mum and I had Bacon & Eggs and the Kumara & Avocado stack. You can’t please everyone as Mum thought her eggs were too cooked (but they were how I like them) but generally were a little overcooked, also bacon a little crispy (but again, some like it like that), people are so hard to please! Kumara stack I think was a teeny undercooked, but packed with flavour and presented well, and delivered quickly considering we arrived 20 min after the menu ended and the chef/kitchen staff agreed to prepare something off the menu, which we felt shutting off at 12pm on a saturday was a little early considering after we sat down probably at least another 20 people came in and would have bought higher value meals given the chance. The service was friendly and accommodating. I didn’t see a highchair (nor did I ask for one), staff were busy so just used the buggy. I would visit again without hesitation, a fresh, contemporary cafe with a great menu selection of all your usual cafe suspects and a few ones to tempt the tastebuds away from the ordinary. Keep up the good work.
This place is finally finding its feet. When this cafe first opened the coffee was far from perfect. I am pleased to say that the coffee has vastly improved and is now certainly worth your money. The jellybeans are a nice touch. The water with mint and lemon is deliciously refreshing. While the service has certainly improved, there is still plenty of room for improvement. The owners are positive and attentive – they need to take steps to instil this attitude in their staff, who often look as though they wish they were elsewhere and view customers as a mere annoyance. Customers need to be valued – business management 101. The occasional waves in service don’t repel our custom.
After a busy day shopping I called in and had a coffee and something to eat.The coffee was one of the hottest I have had around town, usually you get a warm cup.The staff were very friendly and the service was great even though I got the new boy.I will go back for sure.
