My husband and I with our two friends dined at Escape to Picton. Very nice and warm with friendly staff. I ordered the mussels in garlic and wine as a main and I was disappointed with the quality, the mussels were cooked too long and had gone tough and rubbery, the sauce was just like lemon I could not taste any garlic or wine maybe a little cream to cut the tartiness would have been nice with less lemon and a touch of parsley and more garlic, would have been nice. I wondered if the mussels might have been frozen as they were tasteless.Unfortunately my husbands steak (scotch fillet) was over cooked and was cold. Our waiting time between entrees and main was perfect, can’t fault it. Waitress said waiting time might be long as everything was cooked from scratch, that’s fine. But would have expected better quality food.
