Had dinner here last week. Was a very busy night but still had great service. Love the menu which has local seafood and a gmae dish. We had the home made pasta, the cheaper pasta option and the game-all very tasty-home made pasta was excellent. Home made sorbet & ice cream was also very good. Recommend this cafe for it’s fab food, atmosphere and fantastic view over Picton Harbour and the Sounds.
Outstanding. Was there in February 2012. The full breakfast was the best I had eaten in a long time. Partner enjoyed his also. Coffee so so. Good service. Will definitely go there again when we are in Picton next. Thanks.
we went here for breakfast i found they had friendly service and tidy modern decor with relaxed atmosphere. the food tasted good and had lovely presentation but i found the portions quite small for the price paid. we paid around $50 for a drink and breakfast for two people but were not full afterwards.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much of anything in Picton after a night sleeping in an overpriced and underwhelming motel – but I’ll save that story for when I start reviewing motels/hotels.Le Café is a quaint but modern looking café which seems to be divided into two very distinct parts – one for more formal dining and the other more casual. We arrived relatively early for breakfast in the more casual end, which has a mish-mash of seating – some more comfortable than others. There’s a computer set up for free net surfing for patrons and seating outside which has great views of the waterfront. We could see the care being taken by the chef to neatly place items on the plates, so this was a good sign. When the food came out, it was hard to fault anything about it. Eggs nicely done, mushrooms were lovely and there was a dash of pesto on the side of the plate.Because it was such a beautiful morning, this only made the whole bad motel experience vanish relatively quickly.Only warning I would give is that coffees look cheap but that’s because they’re SINGLE SHOT, which is very non-Wellington like of them. BUT you pay standard prices for a double-shot long black.
