my wife remembered this from 23 years ago and pointed it out before we got to the corner ,a great stop ,teapots for tea ,nice pies , good chips , a nostalgia atmosphere to the tearooms of yesterday and also the service was that flavor ,great magazines to read ,for those that want to stay there is also the camp ground and the river to explore.well done will go back there again next with a bus load .

Pelorus Cafe is a gem! Beautiful food, coffee and great service! Lovely people who bend over backwards to please you. The custard squares are absolute heaven and in my opinion the best in the Top of the South! Huge and creamy-a true slice of heaven. 🙂

We stopped at the Cafe while on holiday recently. We found the food delicious. But even better was the coffee – the best we had on our 3 1/2 weeks travelling in the South Island, and we had many coffee stops!! Prior to this stop we didn’t even know the cafe existed. When down there next time we will definitely pay a further visit. The service also was spot on – thanks to you all. Well done!

We called into this cafe yesterday and we were all disappointed with the price of the food that was on offer for the quality we had. I had a bacon and egg pie which costed $7.00 and that’s all that was on offer on the plate. Very disappointed. The mussel fritter was also very dry and came with nothing else and we were charged $6.00. I have travelled recently through NZ and have been very happy with the quality of food and price. We will not be coming back here.

I was impressed with the look of their meat pies – fresh crispy pastry – but on delivery the pie had visted a microwave so what we were served was not what we had been promised when looking into the cabinet!! But the food looked nice.
