On a recent trip down south we had lunch at Herzog Winery and Restaurant. This place is superb. We both had the Cucumber Soup with tempura prawn and salmon for a starter. This was to die for the flavour was outstanding and everything worked so well together. We chose the Pumpkin Risotto and as soon as we took the first mouthful we thought we were in heaven. The wines were amazing and the service fantastic. This was in the Bistro side where the Wine Tasting takes place. Highly recommended have been singing their praises ever since. A must visit when in Blenheim.
Delightful. Quite simply the best meal I’ve had so far in NZ. A sunny 28 degrees, an idyllic garden setting under oak trees looking onto an olive grove, top notch service and beautifully constructed meals – tarahiki with fennel and gnocchi, a fillet with beans and a shared plum tart (I knew I should have ordered my own) were just delightful. The best espresso I’ve had in a very long time. This was the more casual bistro and we enjoyed it so much we’ve booked for dinner in the restaurant.
I visit Herzog at least 3 times year as I travel around the wine regions of New Zealand with my clients. Every time we visit Marlborough Herzog is the first thing on my list. The service is impeccable and the food is absolutely divine. From the moment you walk through the door you are a greeted with a smile and a glass of bubbles. I highly recommend the 7 course degustation dining experience itโs an absolute must for anyone dinning here. Another treat is the Kitchen Confidential experience. You arrive an hour or two before dinner and meet with Herzogโs Michelin Star rated chefs. Enjoy watching them prepare everything from freshly baked bread to the desserts on offer on the menu of the evening. Another favourite with my clients is the Herzog culinary class. You need to book ahead and the minimum number for a private class to go ahead is 4. The private culinary class will begin in the morning where you will help to prepare and cook a 3 course lunch that you will sit down and enjoy in the restaurant or on the porch in their beautiful gardens.
