Now technically I have never eaten at this place.Myself and my partner walked in one afternoon, she is very keen on sushi and sashimi. I’m an ex commercial fisherman, I’ve spent years cutting bluefin tuna and are highly qualified in fish handling and safe food practices. The first thing that got me about Sakim sushi was the smell. Not fresh cut grass, cleaning products or anything else, the place smelt like an old wharf. We’re talking fish guts on the rocks for a half day. A small handful of prepackaged trays of sushi were out on offer, unchilled and looking rather sad.We left in disgust without purchasing a thing.

I got takeaway sushi from here the other day after my movie. The eatery itself is dark and dingy and cramped. There are very few seats in the establishment. I’ve eaten at many Sushi bars and the sushi here was, tbh, sub par. The sushi can only be gotten in pre packed containers and there is no option to pick and choose your sushi. All soy sauce must be purchased and there is no table soy there.Miso was nice though.Overall I have had far better. Better lighting, a tidy up, and pick and choose sushi, better prepared would go a long way to improving this place. Is there anywhere else to actually get sushi in Blenheim though?
