I have missed canneloni since I had to become GF and it was amazing to be able to eat it again – GF and homemade! The ambience was nice and relaxed and the service was excellent, never a dirty plate left on the table. I will definitely be going back.
Popped in for takeaways. At $30 per pizza and $15 per salad, I thought this place must be amazing… I was severely wrong. The pizza was average at best, and the salad was very bland. I would have paid $20 all up. I can’t comment on the dining experience, but avoid at all costs for takeaways. Other reviews seem to show similar themes… Perhaps a time to rethink, Chef?
The only reason for this rating is that it is extremely over priced. Pizza is great though and excellent service, but $45 for a pizza and beer..
Dinner for four on a Tuesday night. Right from the start, nothing seemed like too much trouble for the staff. Great service from the table reservation, to the special dietary requirements of one of our number (GF). Well done you guys.Restaurant was busy and staff were very industrious and attentive.Food was very good and well worth going back for.Well done Hot Rock!!
Don’t get me wrong here the pizza we smashed was tasty, however hugely over priced for what we got, coming from someone who regularly dines in Auckland. I love pizza, one would even say a connoisseur of sorts so overall, disappointed.
I have been visiting Nelson every 6-8 weeks for the past five years and generally visit Hot Rock during my stay. I can honestly say in all the times I have been there I have never had a bad meal. The hosts are always friendly even when the place is full over summer. The food is always fresh and tasty. The pizza and pasta are up there with the best in the country and the desserts are to die for. Great wine list and beer selection. It’s not the flashiest place around but more than delivers.
If you are looking for a good wood fired pizza, this is definitely not the place to go, the pizzas are not very good at all, doughy bases that resemble a bad frozen pizza.Overpriced and bad, avoid!
