Absolutely delicious food and great service in the perfect setting. Salmon carpaccio was fresh and melted in our mouths. Mussel and cockles were also fresh, tasty, and light. Snapper was perfect. Don’t miss the side of homemade mushroom gnocchi!! And we topped it off with a passion fruite deemed dessert. Just fantastic
Beautiful food, went here for dinner in the winter and even without the rows and sunshine, has a great atmosphere if nice and close to the wood burner. 5/5 meals from the group were all exception, very reasonably priced and nicely generous main sized meals all cooler to perfection on all the fish, pork belly, and sirloin steak that was around the table. All and all great meal out with the family.

We were informed about a great place to eat right on the water. Great location awful food!. $35 for steak, $26 for mussels, Steak over cooked salad wilting with red cabbage to bulk it out? Mussels no flavor at all just taste of cream!! Cutlery better quality if bought at an Op shop!! Table sticky, not once were we asked if we required any thing or if food OK? Will not visit again
Dined at the Boatshead Cafe 29th Dec 2013, I had been eagerly anticipated this meal all year as we head to Mapua for the end of year holiday.Food: I ordered the platter without mussels, it came out with mussels all over the tray, stale prawns and scallops the had been sitting around before Xmas day by the looks of it. Bread was ok, fish was average, very dry. I have had this platter before and it has been great but I think all the ingredients were too old to serve. My partner had a vegetable stack which when arrived only had 50% of the ingredients on the plate with a very big juicy mushroom slapped on the top ozzing everywhere all over the meal, the mushroom was not on the menu information it was added by the chef without notice. Unfortunately for my partner she is allergic to mushrooms so I called over the waitress/manager and informed her, there was no apology just a bad attitude and a question whether we would like a new meal. My partner asked for a bowl of fries to substitute the vege stack, unfortunately these were forgotten. After 20mins of waiting we paid up and left the restaurantNot good enough!
The yummiest dessert made right before my eyes… it was wonderful, it looked too good to eat, but too good to leave so I succumbed and ate it.A feast for the eyes and a mouth watering experience. I would recommend a visit to the Boat Shed Cafe in Mapua.
