About 1+ hour out of Nelson, it was one of my favourite places to go to when I lived in Nelson. The mussel patty/burger is the bomb! It’s quite fishy so if you can’t stand fishiness it’s not for you. But they’ve got other burgers too, with beef/lamb/chicken/battered fish. I also find the burger buns quite unique. They’re seeded and quite wide too so it’s almost like sliced bread, but even better! The menu names are punny too. I do miss it, this place is the reason I like burgers. They are closed over the winter season, so be sure to check their Facebook page before making the trip from.Nelson! Tip – bring bug repellent as sometimes you can get bitten by mozzies/sandflies.

It has the freshest battered fish with toasted seeded buns, the most beautiful salad and chutney. So delicious and well worth a visit.
Love the food at Fat Tui – great serviced in a pristine environment, just beautiful!Sit back and relax at a picnic table and take in the beauriful surroundings or takeway. Try one of the gourmet burgers which are scumptious or stick to the more standard fish and chips! Recommend a Sunday drive out to Marahau and dinner at the Fat Tui 🙂
These were the best burgers we have every had. And we have had a few over the years. I had the mussel fritter burger, oh to die for. The salad – which was a salad by itself- was delish had tabbouleh,lettuce,gherkin,carrot,red onion,onion marmalade, tomato, beetroot and cucumber. And the bun had sunflower and poppy seeds on the top. Hubby had beef patty burger with most of the same filling, he said the patty was excellent.We will be back.Price was around $11 but oh so worth it. Service was also top stuff.
