  We stayed here . Initially apprehensive considering distance from Nelson, remote location (in dec). And that’s where the bad part ends. Steve and Pete are amazing hosts. Their chef, I forgot her name ,even allowed us in the kitchen to make our veg Indian food.They tried to make pure veg breakfast which was really tasty. RATNUI LODGE is a very special boutique hotel , which could give a run for money to established big chains in hospitality. Lucky and Glad to have been and stayed there . Thanks guys , Steve and Pete you are awesome.

  We had the pleasure of staying at Ratanui Lodge for 4 nights.We ate in the dinning room on two of those evenings.It is silver service dining at its best.Steve is a very pleasant, entertaining, knowledgable host and Pete a fantastic chef.They have a set three course menu each night.The menu is advertised each week so you can choose when you want to dine.We were invited to enjoy cocktails or wine before dinner.It was delightful to sit and relax and chat with other guests before dining.I especially enjoyed Steve’s Buttafingers Cocktail.He was also great at making Mocktails.The first evening we had Beef fillet with mushroom sauce.This was the absolute best steak I think I have ever eaten.It was preceded by Italian Onion Soup and followed by a chocolate cake desert with ice cream.Our last night there my husband had the Duck breast with homemade roast plum sauce, while I opted for a vegetarian choice.I was served an Aubergine Stack with the same fresh vegetables as the duck meal had.Both meals were superb.We also had curried carrot soup to begin with and a Lemon Lime tart to finish.Thoroughly recommend Ratanui as an experience not to miss.

  Absolutely faultless. The meal was excellent, the service was exceptional and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. When we arrived we sat outside in the courtyard and had drinks. We were served complimentary nibbles. My wine was delivered in its own wine bucket and topped up for me as the waiter went past. The attention to detail was highly evident and was executed effortlessly. Thanks Steve and Pete for a lovely dining experience.
