We have been to Jellyfish Cafe and bar many times over the past year and have found the food, service and location all first class. Its such a great venue and the menu is full of seasonal fresh good food. The cold apple cider is wonderful.
We’ve been to Jellyfish several times over the past year and have found the food, service and location all first class. It’s such a gorgeous setting and the menu is full of seasonal fresh yummy food. Personal favourites are the fish soup and the pork salad. Simple tasty food done very very well. We’ll be back – we can’t miss a trip to Jellyfish every time we’re in Nelson/Tasman. Keep up the great work!
Had visitors from Dunedin and decided to take them to the Jellyfish for a mealWhat a mistake that was firstly we sat at empty table and before we ordered waitress told us to sit in the restaurant we had to order a meal or we needed to sit outside We ordered 2x battered fish and 2 x salad. The fish was overcooked to the point of being like leather and about 12 chips and the size of the fish was like 2 fish fingers in size The salad had 2 very small pieces of chicken in it and a few tattered bits of lettuce and the bill $76.00We were disgusted at the meal provided and vow we will never ever go back to the Jellyfish and we have been spreading the word about what a let down and disappointment both for us and our questsIf you go to Mapua don’t go for a meal to the Jellyfish very expensive for what you get and one of the worst restaurants we have ever been to but we have learned our lesson
We visited on a Wednesday night to take advantage of their special of 2 mains and 2 drinks for $50.00. Meal was good, lamb was a little ordinary but the Thai pork was excellent and we were very happy until we went to pay and were told that the bill was not $50.00 as expected but $90.00 because we had walked in instead of booking by phone. The experience was ruined and we will not go back.
We’ve been several times now – dinner, breakfast, brunch, just a glass of wine… any excuse. Everything we’ve tried from the menu has been delicious but stand-outs for us were the groper with a beautifully judged Thai curry sauce and some wee courgettes, rolled in a secret breadcrumb and spice mix and then deep fried – YUM. The warm chocolate brownie ordered by my husband for dessert caused an unseemly wrangle over the spoons!
Great to have something a little different on the menu – I have been several times now and love the choices and agree with Kate the Sicilian fish being tomato based is a welcoming change from the usual seafood chowder. The Italian eggs for breakfast are to die for. Good wine list and friendly service – highly recommended
Brilliant food and service…view to die for!!! good pricing, and not bad wine list!….the scillian soup is lovely, tasty and worth a try, nice ambiance too….i would highly recomend this restaurant in Mapua….will try lunch next…
