St Arnaud is the Gateway to the Nelson Lakes National Park. Situated at an elevation of 640 metres above sea level and nestled amongst the impressive St Arnaud Range the scenery is breathtaking and the activities available are unlimited. Family owned and operated, the Alpine Lodge was built in 1983 and opened in 1984. Walter and Frederika Unterberger took over the Lodge in 1988 and established one of the most successful family businesses in the nelson Marlborough area. We believe in showcasing the best seasonal New Zealand produce. Progressive European flavours are married with contemporary cooking techniques to provide dinners for our wide range of guests. Our philosophy is simple - we aim to provide good food, matched with good service in comfortable surroundings. We source the freshest seasonal local produce and feel extremely privileged to have the Woodsmans Pantry grow some of our produce right here in the village of St. Arnaud as well as Solandri Mountain Saffron.Details

We were not expecting much when we stayed here but were surprised all around. The service, ambience, food, wine were all excellent. It was a lovely evening.

We were ready for a lunch stop when we came upon this place. It had a great atmosphere, couples as well as families were taking advantage of the great food. A roaring fire was very welcome too.
Great location. Comfortable space with warm fire, lamb shank was awesome. GF pizza was good, could have been warmer but great overall. We will be back.
