Just stopped in here for a quick bite, the staff were so professional and polite. The chef even came out and gave us some individual recommendations. We all ended up getting the soup of the day and it was DELICIOUS and good value for $$ potato and leak. Thank you for a wonderful meal we will be back

Clinker closed after this review, then reopened with new owners including a professional chef. While the remarks which follow remain relevant (though the new owners’ menu differs – see their website) see the new review at the end. In 2014 I wrote – We have been here a number of times. Seven days a week in this alpine village, with long opening hours is a fair challenge. I wholly disagree with Mandy R’s view that they lack commercial food experience. To the contrary they offer a very sensibly selected range of food during the day. Excellent home baking in the cabinet food (try the chocolate cake if it has not already gone) a fixed menu of cooked dishes, and a daily special or two. Excellent home made soups; a good range of lighter meals (think eggs or fish); more ambitious dinner food. Great coffee. The main chef has lengthy local experience before Clinker and a strong following. On days such as the classic boat weekend they run both the cafe and a lakeside lunch spot – Teetotal Rabbit featured this year – a local name which they will happily explain. Well worth a visit here – or several. NEW REVIEW. Clinker has had a busy time with the SH1 closure and the diverted traffic, but the current owners have more than coped. Updated menu information on their website (and Facebook) is worth checking for special occasions and special menus. At times they feature Polish specialities. All good, including cabinet food, is their own. Highly Recommended.
