Stayed in Hamilton couple of nights for a conference. Ibis buffet breakfast provide an array of sweets and savory choices. Their pancake machine took a while to figure out how to use it but pretty cool lil gadget. Their cooked savory brekkie is hearty. For $24 is quite a value of money.
I ordered the chicken breast with mushroom arancini with carrot and caraway purée and a rocket salad. Salad was good but unfortunately the chicken was dry and the arancini and purée were both under seasoned and with no salt and pepper provided it was rather bland. I ordered this as room service – that what it said on the hotel phone when I pressed the button to call but later found out I had to go to the restaurant to pick it up myself.
We came here for tea a couple of weeks ago and we were not impressed, i ordered a scotch fillet steak meal valued at $30.00 and the steak tasted like porter house steak not scotch fillet. My friend ordered the fish meal and didn’t even eat all her main meal, the service was average but for the price we paid we expected a whole lot more effort. We will not be visiting there again any time soon.
We went for lunch and experienced very disorganized service. Several menu items not available. I don’t recommend the open sandwiches as the toasted sourdough bread makes it feel like you have to fight to eat your food as the utensils are not sufficient to cut through the bread without injuring yourself. Over all the meals were tasty and well presented but they were just what you would expect from a hotel restaurant, nothing special. However the buffet breakfast is good I would rate that 4 out of five.
