By far the best fish and chips I’ve had in Hamilton. I have tried fish and chips at many local takeaways in Hamilton and this has to be my favourite. The batter is so light and crispy and not at all doughy. Haven’t tried much of the stuff on their menu but I have tried the friedrice and it was delicious. It tasted very gourmet and fresh. This is definitely my one stop fish and chips shop.

Was driving back from Auckland late this avo and decided on some Chinese takeaways for dinner as it was getting late. I ordered wonton soup with extra broccoli. And they gave me the extra broccoli at no extra cost. The wontons were fresh and very tasty. Best soup I have had for a while. I have had fish and chips from Ruby’s before and have always enjoyed them. Fish has always been spot on. Nice to see a well run clean takeaway so well done Ruby’s.
It is rare (in Hamilton, actually probably anywhere) to get a good fish and chips shop that is also a good Chinese takeaways.That is why I was pleasantly surprised that Ruby’s is great at both!Great fish and chip deals.You can tell they use clean oil from the yellow tinge of the chips.The burgers always contain a satisfactory amount of melted CHEESE (if you’re not a melted cheese fan stay away from the burgers that include cheese, you will regret it!)After them being great at fish and chips, I was hesitant about trying their Chinese (As I said rare to have a place good at both)I thought I would give their Sweet and Sour pork ago (I had given up on ordering sweet and sour pork anywhere in Hamilton as they so often now days have the pork chewy, small and soggy and I end up being disappointing I ordered it)But this was awesome! instantly the best Sweet and sour Pork I have tried in Hamilton. (like how it should be, tender pork, thick batter with outside tad crispy)So now I go to this place for all my Chinese, fish and chips takeaways! and I recommend you try it!
