What a great place Mavis & Co Eatery is. A stone throw away from the busy part of Grey Street, it is offset from the road and if not for the little A-frame sign board I would not have found it. But how glad I am that I did. The sErving is very generous, perhaps a touch too much for a small eater. I ordered the smoke salmon, poached egg and salad breakfast and although it was absolutely delicious I simply could not finish it. The display cabinet have way too many temptations-that is never a bad thing. Look for to coming back for some cake and tea very soon.
My hubby and I have found our favourite cafe with Mavis & Co! Fantastic food, atmosphere, and so many options. How have I not gone here sooner?? I enjoyed the Donburi and it was full of flavour and the pork melted in my mouth. Tasty apple crumble herbal tea. Their chocolate meringues are exquisite! I can’t wait to go back! Finally, a place that has a huge range of cabinet food! I’m so happy we came here!

I have been here for coffee and burger. It was lunch time so it was busy but I was happy wait. Ordered a flat white (ok) and eggs benedict. Eggs werent runny and over cooked which ruined it 🙁 But my meal took over 30mins.. Maybe if the food was perfect it would have been worth the wait. Their cabinet food looked pretty though! Maybe i’ll come back to try that.
Poor service. Sat outside and they forgot my order, until I told them forty minutes later. The scone I had was so dry, the ones I can get at the bakery are half the price and twice better. The chocolate meringue was good though, but I say isn’t worth the $5..
Popped in quickly for a late lunch en route to Rotorua. Was still super busy late afternoon – unfortunately the steak sandwich was unavailable so we ordered the eggs benny and energise salad as well as some coffee. Food was okay but service was a bit on the slow side that arvo. Friendly staff and lovely outdoor seating area though.
