We are locals, in the past have always taken our visitors for dinner, NEVER again. The prices have increased!!! $42 for the seafood platter it was disgusting, could not eat it!! the food is second rate. For $8.00 a red wine in a small white wine glass, served my husband flat beer then told him it was the last of the waikato on a Saturday night!Constructive feedback was delivered to Chris he did not acknowledge our complaints, he had a don’t care, Whatever attitude. Not recommended. In the future we will drive to Thames.

I have been to the Muddy River several times for birthdays and functions and have always have a good experience – until the last time.We booked a group of 20 for a birthday celebration for a Dad. One of his children was asked to leave because they weren’t ordering (they had spent all their funds on a 7hr trip to be there). Is there an actual policy about not being able to be part of a group if you’re not eating???Also 80% of those that ordered burgers said they were awful, others who had been before said the meals were not as nice as they had previously had.The standard used to be high, maybe they had an off night?? Not sure if I would go again though after this experience.

I’ve always had great experiences at Muddy River Cafe. I’ve been there many times, for a drink and a slice in the afternoon, a hot chocolate in the morning, lunch and dinners and events. Including my own engagement party which they very happily catered for and did a fantastic job. I’ve never been let down by the food or the service. Sunday nights they do a $10 menu which is great for another good night out and good for when you are trying to budget but still cant be bothered to cook. 🙂 I’ve also organized a baby shower for a friend and again had an enjoyable time, great food and service. I highly recommend the Muddy River Cafe! One of my favourite places, In fact i think I’m gonna go there for dinner tonight 🙂 mmmmmm what to have a seafood basket? Or Steak? or salad? mmm big choices as they are all great :)Thanks Muddy River Cafe 🙂

We have driven by so many times and never stopped but did this weekend on way to Hamilton, beautiful coffee, the tastiest gooey choc fudge slice!.. ever! It was so good we stopped on our way back and had a lovely lunch as well, friendly lovely waitress, fresh, funky, clean premises, very enjoyable, lucky Turua having this place as their own!!

Sunday 27th March 2011 had booked a group of 15 in for lunch. We arrived early, they accommodated us straight away, table was all set up for us and ready for a buffet lunch. What a spread! Food was excellent and heaps of it. They nailed it with the desert though! The presentation was fantastic! We will be back!!Congratulations Muddy River Cafe! you made some Ford fans very happy.Chris. Lunch menu is simple with a touch of class. Caters for all from the good old kiwi tucker to simple sophistication. Great place to spend a lazy Sunday lunch.
