The Boatshed is one of my favourite destinations for a Sunday drive – we love driving the back roads from Hamilton, going over the dam and through the lanes to get there. The cafe has been renovated in recent times and is just stunning, and of course it’s always had such a beautiful location. If I wasn’t already married I’d love to get married there!While the coffee is always good bang for your buck (hot, strong, delicious), it’s the food I’m the biggest fan of. Don’t expect an endless menu (yawn) with boring repeats of dishes you can have anywhere – the Boatshed menu, like the food, is simple yet sophisticated, with clever and tasty twists on classic dishes. Just the sort of food we love. We were there last weekend and I had the chicken broth (tasty soul food), and my husband had the burger, which was gooooood (he had to chase me away with his fork!). Our son sat in the high chair and the lovely staff heated his food, fussed over him and happily delivered extra napkins (most needed). Love that this foodie cafe also is family/kid friendly. Highly recommend this cafe – especially great to impress out of towners with.
