I’m afraid I must agree with the last review. I was there with my aunt who just like me loves vegetarian Indian food. The dishes were extremely oily even for Indian food standards and definitely not made with fresh products. I strongly recommend going somewhere else. Sorry Hello India!
On the basis of the reviews on this page, we booked in for a group of us for a special occasion. The staff were helpful and friendly, however, overall I would say we were underwhelmed with the food as it was not fresh. One of our party was gluten free, and enquired about the roti flour (whether it was wheat or garam) and the waiter brought out the packet. The pakora and onion bahji were substandard. As for the mains, one of our party requested extra hot vindaloo but it was medium at best. When he asked for fresh chillies they brought out a sauce as they did not have fresh chillies. I don’t see how a restaurant can be rated this highly when it clearly doesn’t use fresh produce.
I had read the review that said this restaurant had the best Indian food in NZ.Well, it certainly lived up to that comment. Indian food is a favorite for me and I’ve eaten lots in different parts of the world. The food was delicious, with the right balance of spices. The service was great and the environment very relaxing. Make sure you top off your meal with their delicious Indian Chai tea.

My family, friends and I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and have found the food of excellent quality, like grandma’s cooking, authentic India food (I teach India cooking so I know what the food is supposed to taste like). High recommended to anyone wanting to try Indian dishes.
