Excellent menu and brilliant service. Traveled down to Taupo and stopped off in Hobbit Town, we had a great breakfast here in August. Would recommend to all. Good food and reasonably priced too. What more could we want.
We come here all the time we are locals and the food is the best in town now after a change in staff about 7 months or so ago!!! Just wanted to say we came last Wednesday night and it was our best visit yet. There was a calm and professional atmosphere in the restaurant even though it was full and everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time. On occasion the place gets a little over packed and it seems to be loud and crazy a bit hard to talk and enjoy when the boss (who is awesome) but gets a bit carried away and starts yelling it is very off putting when trying to enjoy a meal with friends.Anyway we have the best time and the staff and food were really really good cant say enough about them. Keep up the good work guys and keep it calm just the way it was the other night fantastic!!!!
We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night on our way down south. We were promptly greeted at the door by the manager as we browsed the menu outside, who was even kind enough to give us a quick run-through of other eateries along the street if we wanted more choice. But we chose to eat here and didn’t regret it for a second; the lamb shanks and fish of the day were fantastic and very satisfying on a cold night. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was very warm. Highly recommended and would definitely come back again.
Good Food – Terrible Service.Have been to the Workman’s Cafe twice in the last wee while. The first time we were sworn at by the restaurant manager which was both embarrassing a rude because we asked about our meals which took 40 mins to come out. It was really nice but soured by the shocking service. The second time was last week where we had a group of 8 and told to go somewhere else – you just get the feeling they don’t give a toss which is a shame because the food & setting is quite good.Do yourself a favour and cruise down to the bar a few doors down, they’ll look after you.
Outstanding sums up our experience at Workmans. We had been travelling for sometime and found this quirky cafe for dinner on Saturday night. After a drink and a lovely pate we ordered the salmon and venison and it looked amazing, the date and port sauce on the venison was to die for and the salmon looked like it was out of a magazine. The chef delivered the food and was very friendly and she took the time to talk to us then returned later to check that we had enjoyed the meals. The service was also very good with a cheerful waitress who was helpful in giving us information about the area and activities we could enjoy the next day.I would recommend to everyone who loves good food and friendly service to come here. 10/10
Had a really good night here, it was very busy but they fitted us in and we found the service very good and fast.Had the Venison and it was better than expected also had the eye and it was cooked to perfection.A very interesting restaurant with lots of charm. We enjoyed our night and were made very welcome. Will be visiting again.
Very disappointed. Service – bit over the top. Ordered hot water and lemon – lemon was off. Squid rings came on a bed of lettuce and hidden underneath a couple of baked potatoes . No dressing on the less than fresh lettuce so overall pretty tastelessWont go againBack to the place next door for great pizza next time!!
