We had a great meal here with very generous portion size and really tasty food. I had the mussels which were steamed perfectly and my companions had BLATs. This cafe has fairtrade coffee and strongly advocates its locally sourced produce which is a massive credit to management and staff to put in this extra effort. I wonder if creating a room specifically for diners and then having a lounge type room for coffee goers might help as the premises is large. Yet it doubles as the local watering hole by night so this is to be expected. Will definately return here.

The staff were very friendly but the atmosphere needs work. Music was playing but you could only hear it in places. The furniture was very sparse, the room we sat in was almost empty. Nice cold beer and friendly people but I will try others before I make this my local.
Had lunch at Council Cafe this week, absolutely divine! The choice on the menu is really great and we particularly enjoyed the Winter Crunch salad and also the pumpkin and ricotta tart, really really yum! Sheryl
Council bar and cafe morrinsville is a cool place to go, great menue, great food very frendly atmosphere, very well priced menue, well worth the trip from hamilton. This place is a credit to the owner, will defintly go there again. Ella
