  Based on the other reviews here, I wish I had checked on here before trying this restaurant. Meals were so bad, we didn’t finish – my friends chicken al pollo tasted like it came out of a jar with a horrible synthetic bacon flavour. My fettuccine tutti mare came out in the exactly same red sauce as our mussel entree (despite being different meals). The sauce was obviously also out of a jar due to the dried herbs. We go up and left, letting the manager know about our disappointment which, obviously didn’t come as any surprise due to the experience of other reviewers. In short, you could make something that tastes better with store bought pasta and sauce.

  I would not recommend this Restaurant. We went for Dinner recently and had 2 deal vouchers. They clearly stated 2 vouchers could be used for each table. They would only except 1 voucher. The food was terrible and very overpriced. My partner ordered a steak and vegetables and it was $45.00. I had pasta Apollo which was supposed to be with chicken. There was no chicken at all and it was very bland. It would have had to be the worst Italian food we have ever had.Have just read this restaurants reply to my comments. It is an absolute lie that they offered to refund the money for a voucher. I still stand by everything I posted regarding this restaurant.

  tried lasagne there, left 95% behind. Not impressed. pasta overcooked on wifes meal. pizza tasteless. found myself just wanting to get out as fast as possible before my night is totally ruined. next stop mcdonalds

  Night before the Taupo cycle ride the 4 of us decide to eat here. We won’t be going back! The garlic bread was tasteless and undercooked and the pasta was overlooked and the sauce also had no flavour – both the tomato based and cream based. The muscles in my dish were cold, and the service was pretty cold too! Lots of other places in Taupo, I’d try them if I were you.

  A real little gem where kids are welcome and there is a real sense that they are trying to do everything possible to make your stay at this restaurant the best experience possible. There was some confusion created by the front of house service (too many waiters servicing the same table) and a little clumsy but only because everyone wanted to please so much. And this in no way distracted from a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The food, sensational. Far surpassed what I thought I was going to find. The combination of flavours on the plate (I ordered the duck for the main course) worked wonderfully. The polenta on a bed of spinach leaves, a delicate balance complimented well with the thin potato shavings. My only issue was that the duck was lost a little by the accompanying dish. When I buy duck, I want the duck to be the main attraction. The bird was a little overdone but this no way distracted from a wonderful dish. Rounding off our meal was a baked Alaska and was near perfection. The meringue, just as it should be, crunchy on the outside and smooth and gooey on the inside. Filled with gelato ice cream and drizzled with berry jus. Just enough to leave you satisfied without an overload of sweetness.When it comes to it, these guys know how to plate up good food, provide at relaxed atmosphere and leave you feeling very satisfied when you walk out. There is no doubt I plan to walk back in again. Visited 17 Nov 2012
