About
Our Story The name Straits Kitchen was used to identify our origins and the type of cuisine from where it was inspired from. Our family and forefathers were born and raised along the Straits of Malacca. The Straits of Malacca is a narrow, 850 km (530 mi) stretch of water between the Malay Peninsula (Peninsular Malaysia), Singapore (Temasek) and the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It was named after the Malacca sultanate that ruled over the archipelago between 1400 and 1511. Generations dated back to the Sultanate era of authentic Malay cuisine. Carefully imported ingredients from the straits prepared and served high up in the mountains of Rangitikei, New Zealand. Straits Kitchen, A Peninsulas appetite to please the Sultans
