We were walking by Lake Taupo when Tejana Cantina’s lovely painted walls, little picket fence and lively music caught our attention. We were super happy to find a Mexican place with tons of vegetarian and vegan options. Between 8 of us, we polished off two portions or guacamole-chips, two portions of jalapeno poppers, four naked burritos, two dressed burritos and a three-taco plate. Everything was super tasty and I loved their playlist. Definitely the place to be after a long walk around Lake Taupo.The staff was super warm and their service was super quick.Generous quantities in each dish we ordered.

Waited for over an hour for our food only to watch 3 other tables arrive, eat and leave before even getting our starters. When questioning the staff, we were rudely told to wait as our food was nearly ready. We had only ordered tacos and quacamole. Seriously poor service and just to top it off the staff proceeded to pack up and start to close the restaurant before we had finished eating.1/10 definitely would stay clear!!
Great portion sizes, food was delicious, we had the nachos and burrito bowl. Staff were friendly. No one else there on a Friday night which was a bit odd!
